In Memory of Marion Fritz

Marion Fritz, a lifelong Auburn resident, started playing violin in sixth grade. At East Middle School, she took violin lessons, along with the Contiguglia twins, as a student of Harold Henderson. At Central High School she played in the violin section of the school orchestra. After high school graduation, Marion worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s business and did not play violin again until the founding of Auburn Chamber Orchestra. Marion dusted off her violin, had a successful audition for the orchestra and played in the second violin section for the next 36 years!

Marion also served many years on the orchestra board in various capacities, including treasurer and board president. In fact, she may have served as many hours on the board as she did behind her music stand!

In addition to ACO, Marion played violin and piano for church services. Other activities that Marion enjoyed included serving on the Auburn Doubledays Booster Club board, bowling (she was a 2017 Hall of Fame inductee), silk screening and sewing.

To honor Marion’s dedication to the orchestra, her family has requested that donations be made to ACO. To make a donation to the Marion Fritz Memorial Scholarship fund, click the link below or mail a check to the address below.
